Advanced Project Management: Integrated Planning and Control

For experienced project leads who need to connect planning, hybrid delivery, change control and closure through case studies and a live-project capstone.

Introduction

Many organisations run projects with disconnected plans, where scope, schedule, cost, quality and stakeholder decisions are made in separate places and change is absorbed without control. Advanced Project Management addresses this by treating the project lifecycle as one integrated system, from business case and charter through baselines, execution, change control and closure. The course draws on the PMBOK Guide principles and performance domains and on ISO 21502:2020 guidance, and shows how to tailor predictive, adaptive and hybrid approaches to each project. Participants leave with an Integrated Project Management Plan and Control Pack built for a live project.

Course Objectives

  • Structure a project from business case and charter to an approved set of integrated scope, schedule and cost baselines.
  • Tailor predictive, adaptive or hybrid delivery approaches to the complexity, uncertainty and constraints of a given project.
  • Apply PMBOK Guide principles and performance domains and ISO 21502:2020 guidance to day-to-day project decisions.
  • Operate integrated change control, quality assurance and procurement interfaces without losing baseline integrity.
  • Lead stakeholders and project teams through structured engagement, communication and conflict resolution plans.
  • Measure project performance with a KPI set, forecast trends and close projects with a documented handover and lessons learned.

Target Audience

  • Professionals leading medium to large projects end to end, accountable for scope, time, cost and quality outcomes
  • Engineering and technical leads responsible for planning and coordinating multi-discipline project work packages
  • Project controls and planning professionals responsible for baselines, progress reporting and change records
  • Delivery and operations managers responsible for turning approved initiatives into completed projects
  • Contract and procurement coordinators responsible for supplier interfaces on project delivery
  • Functional managers who sponsor projects or supply resources to project teams

Why Attend This Course

  • Replace fragmented project plans with one set of baselines that scope, schedule, cost and quality decisions all refer to.
  • Gain a tested method for choosing between predictive, adaptive and hybrid delivery instead of defaulting to one approach.
  • Move from week-one planning disciplines to week-two complex delivery, contractor interfaces, controls and closure in one sequence.
  • Return with an Integrated Project Management Plan and Control Pack drafted for a live project in your organisation.

Conclusion

Projects rarely fail on a single discipline; they fail where planning, control and people decisions stop connecting. This course from Core Concept follows the project lifecycle in order, first building integrated baselines and then applying them to complex, multi-stakeholder delivery with cases drawn from infrastructure, healthcare and manufacturing. By the end, participants can tailor an approach, hold baselines under change, lead stakeholders through delivery and close projects with evidence, supported by a plan and control pack ready for use at work.
