Programme overview

Introduction:

Bancassurance and life insurance distribution partnerships underperform when branch staff sell policies they cannot explain, commission terms reward volume over fit, and early lapses erode the value both bank and insurer expected. This Core Concept course equips bank and insurer distribution teams to compare term, whole life, endowment, unit-linked and credit life products, choose a bancassurance operating model, negotiate partnership and remuneration terms, run needs-based sales with clear disclosure, and track persistency and conduct indicators. Participants build a Bancassurance Channel Blueprint and Sales Quality Scorecard.

Course Objectives:

  • Compare term, whole life, endowment, unit-linked, credit life and retirement savings products by benefit design, cash value, charges and the customer need each one serves
  • Select a referral, corporate agency, joint venture or integrated bancassurance model and justify the choice against the bank's customer base, capital and control appetite
  • Negotiate partnership agreement clauses and commission, profit-share and clawback structures that reward persistency and sales quality as well as new premium
  • Run a needs-based sales conversation with a documented fact-find, protection gap calculation, suitability record and clear product disclosure
  • Detect mis-selling, early lapse and operational failure points between bank and insurer and design controls, service routines and remediation
  • Track channel performance through penetration, premium per branch, persistency and complaint indicators and record the design in a Bancassurance Channel Blueprint and Sales Quality Scorecard

Conclusion:

A bancassurance channel creates lasting value only when the right life insurance products reach the right customers, partners share rewards on terms that favour retention, and sales quality is measured as closely as premium. The five days move from products and operating models, through partnership agreements and needs-based selling, to conduct risk, persistency and servicing controls. The final day applies these methods to a retail bank case and produces a Bancassurance Channel Blueprint and Sales Quality Scorecard for use at work.
