Programme overview
Introduction:
TV presenting skills decide whether a programme holds its audience: a presenter who stumbles on the autocue, loses the thread when the gallery speaks in the earpiece or lets a guest overrun damages the whole broadcast. This Core Concept course trains presenters, hosts, reporters and digital video talent to deliver to camera with a controlled voice, read and ad-lib naturally, take direction live and run a studio interview to time. Daily on-camera practice builds towards a recorded studio segment and a Presenter Showreel and Development Plan.
Course Objectives:
- Deliver scripted and unscripted pieces to camera with controlled breathing, clear diction and a consistent on-screen persona in Arabic and English
- Read autocue copy at natural pace and ad-lib links, fills and handovers between running order items
- Take gallery direction through IFB earpiece talkback and floor manager cues while continuing to speak on air
- Conduct a researched studio interview that draws out the guest, follows up on answers and finishes on time
- Present live links and recover from on-air failures such as a lost feed, prompter fault or late guest
- Produce a recorded studio segment and a Presenter Showreel and Development Plan from structured self-review

Day 1: The Presenter's Role, Programme Formats and On-Screen Persona
- Presenter Roles Map: News Presenter, Programme Host, Magazine Presenter and Field Reporter
- News, Magazine and Talk Programme Formats Compared Through Their Running Orders
- On-Screen Persona Profile: Credibility, Warmth and Programme Tone
- Studio Anatomy: Gallery, Floor Manager, Prompter Operator and Camera Positions
- Baseline Piece to Camera Recorded and Scored on a Presenter Performance Rubric
Day 2: Voice, Diction and Camera Craft for Presenters
- Diaphragmatic Breathing and Breath Support Drills for Sustained Delivery
- Arabic Articulation Points and Modern Standard Arabic Broadcast Delivery
- English Broadcast Delivery: Word Stress, Intonation and Pace in Bilingual Programmes
- Tally Light Cues, Lens Eye-Line and Framing Awareness for On-Air Talent
- Posture, Gesture and Facial Expression Calibrated for Close-Up and Wide Shots
Day 3: Autocue, Earpiece Talkback and the Studio Guest Interview
- Autocue Reading Technique: Scroll Speed, Marked Copy and Conversational Delivery
- Ad-Lib Fills and Handover Links Between Running Order Items
- IFB Earpiece Talkback with a Mix-Minus Feed: Listening to the Gallery While Speaking
- Guest Research Brief and Question Ladder for Studio Interviews
- Active Listening, Follow-Up Questions and Time Control Against Countdown Cues
Day 4: Live Links, On-Air Problems and Presenting for Digital Platforms
- Live Two-Way and Down-the-Line Links from a Location Stand-Up
- On-Air Contingency Protocol: Prompter Failure, Lost Feed, Late Guest and Breaking Insert
- Broadcast Delay and Live Correction Handling When an Error Goes to Air
- Vertical 9:16 Presenting for Social Video: Hooks, On-Screen Captions and Direct Address
- Wardrobe, Make-Up Readiness and Studio Etiquette Checklist Under Lights
Day 5: Recorded Studio Segment and the Presenter Showreel
- Segment Plan and Running Order for a Magazine Programme Item
- Recorded Studio Segment with Opening, Guest Interview and Close
- Floor Manager Hand Signal and Countdown Drill in Live-to-Tape Recording
- Playback Self-Review Against the Baseline Presenter Performance Rubric
