Introduction:
Many organisations hold a full set of safety procedures, yet injury records, audit findings and contractor incidents show that risk is not being controlled where work happens. Occupational health and safety management systems break down when the HSE manager inherits documents without a clear structure, meaningful indicators or a working review cycle. This Core Concept course equips HSE managers to design, run and improve an OHS management system built on the ISO 45001:2018 clause structure, from the legal register and risk processes to management review. Participants produce an OHS Management System Improvement Roadmap for their own organisation.
Course Objectives:
- Design the scope, structure and documented information of an OHS management system aligned with the ISO 45001:2018 clause structure
- Establish worker consultation and participation arrangements and a legal and other requirements register with a routine for evaluating compliance
- Build system-level hazard identification and risk assessment processes supported by a balanced set of leading and lagging indicators
- Direct contractor safety management and the incident investigation and corrective action process as integral parts of the system
- Run an internal audit programme and management review that end in documented decisions, resources and improvement actions
- Produce an OHS Management System Improvement Roadmap for the participant's organisation
